Payroll Manager

We are seeking an experience Payroll Manager to support one of our portfolio companies which is in the staffing and recruitment industry.  This position will report to the Payroll Director.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Manage the weekly payroll for external talent overseeing the day-to-day activities of Specialist and Team Leads.
  • Manage the California portion of payroll
  • Review and audit reports for external talent weekly.
  • Partner with other departments and teams
  • Approve timecards and manage PTO requests; create and maintain a positive team environment; conduct routine team meetings; provide recognition and celebrate successes.
  • Ensure the team’s understanding of all client and regulatory requirements; effectively communicate policies, procedures, and benefits; partner in the development of new policies and processes.
  • Establish a positive and productive partnerships with internal employees and a strong focus on providing a positive payroll experience for external talent.
  • Drive team and individual accountability for performance.
  • Meet routinely with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback; establish and monitor progress against scorecard metrics and EBR goals in accordance Payroll department standards.
  • Conduct performance reviews; understand the career goals of direct reports and teach, train, and equip them for success.
  • Facilitate success plans, performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions; maintain complete documentation of both positive and negative performance and behavior issues; work with Payroll Manager and HR as needed to implement verbal, written and final warnings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, human resources, accounting, or relevant field
  • In lieu of a degree, a high school diploma plus 3 years of Payroll experience
  • 1 year of leadership, supervisor, or management experience.
  • Experience in processing traveler payroll
  • Experience in processing California payroll
  • Experience in Multi-State payroll processing
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience processing large scale payroll for multiple facilities in the State of CA
